This strand supports the next generation of artists and music professionals, both on and off the stage. Through workshops, mentoring, masterclasses and performance opportunities, Kings Place: Belong enables emerging talent to develop, connect and progress. We work with young artists, community musicians and early career professionals to nurture creative careers, open pathways into the music sector, and champion diverse voices and London based talent.
The Kings Place Young Artist Platform is an exciting initiative supporting early-career musicians at the start of their professional journeys, offering a visible and high-profile performance opportunity.
Selected through an open call, emerging London-based chamber groups (aged 18–30) represent a diverse range of genres, including Classical, Jazz and Folk. Each group is offered a paid 45-minute performance slot ahead of key evening concerts throughout the year. With audiences already gathered before performances, the platform creates a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, bringing fresh energy to the building while supporting our commitment to developing young artists.
Through this programme, we are building a community of emerging musicians and positioning Kings Place as a cultural hub for the next generation.
Keep your eyes peeled to apply for our next Open Call out in 2027!
Quote from Lost in the Loop: ‘Performing in the Kings Place foyer was such an exciting opportunity for us and really helped us get our music out there. The venue is beautiful and the acoustics are full and resonant, and it meant a lot to see our name ready and waiting there when we arrived, alongside famous folk groups we’ve followed for years. There’s a special look on the audience’s faces when they leave the main concert only to discover more music as they get their drinks. The Kings Place team were so hospitable and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. We’d definitely recommend it to upcoming artists!’
We offer an outstanding programme of training and professional development within our Technical department so that junior team members can upskill across sound, lighting, stage management and more. We have worked closely with Islington Council and local charities and agencies to introduce young residents to performing arts career pathways.
