Haydn | Piano Trio in E, Hob XV:28 |
---|---|
Brahms | Piano Trio No. 2 in C, Op. 87 |
Saint-Saëns | Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op. 92 |
Haydn’s late trio in E major, with its beautifully expressive middle movement in E minor, is followed by Brahms’s majestic C major trio composed in the early 1880s, as he completed the third symphony. Saint-Saëns’s dramatic and passionately melodic second trio, composed whilst he was in Algeria in 1892, completes their programme.
