Voices Together
News
A call out to community & amateur choirs ahead of our year-long 2022 programme celebrating the power and the joy of singing, Voices Unwrapped.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been a hugely challenging time for choirs. At Kings Place, we know how much joy singing with others can bring, and what a powerful force choirs can be for building community, supporting mental health, and developing a sense of wellbeing. We want to support London’s choral recovery.
As part of our Voices Unwrapped series in 2022, we want to share our spaces and facilities with ten choirs who could use a boost to their recovery from the pandemic. Partner choirs will be able to come to Kings Place to use one of our spaces to hold a rehearsal, make a video recording of a live performance at Kings Place to use as they wish, to perform live in one of the spaces at Kings Place on a Voices Unwrapped Saturday, and for their MD to attend a summer workshop weekend with other MDs and choral experts.
The Voices Together project will be curated by the conductor, baritone and teacher Sam Evans.
Criteria
- As this is a community-based project, we will prioritise choirs from the Greater London area.
- We are looking for a broad, diverse range of choirs, of different sizes, and representing varied genres of music, just like our artistic programme (see kingsplace.co.uk/voices).
- We are also especially looking for choirs who need some inspiration and support to get back on their feet.
- Our shortlist will be 10-12 choirs, but if you are not sure, do get in touch, as we may have other opportunities to offer throughout next year.
