Performed from memory in over 75 minutes of complete darkness, Georg Friedrich Haas’ Solstices is a mammoth experience of tuning, listening and beauty.

Here, it is prefaced with a tribute to Oliver Knussen in his short, early (1972-73), and under-performed Océan de Terre which echoes Haas’ work in its dedication to long harmonic notes, which Knussen described as ‘closing imperceptibly, like a fan.’
