Viëtor | Five Symphonic Sketches (1962) [UK Premiere] |

Price | Adoration |
Schumann | Cello Concerto in A minor, Op. 129 |
Mendelssohn | Symphony No. 4 in A, Italian |
In a diverse programme ranging from music never heard before in the UK to some of the most iconic pieces in the repertoire, the Bath Festival Orchestra returns to Kings Place with internationally-acclaimed Dutch cellist Ella van Poucke, who will star in Schumann’s intimate and romantic Cello Concerto in A minor.
The programme will start off with music by the Italian-born composer Alba Rosa Viëtor (1889-1979), who spent most of her life based in the USA, with many ties to Italy as well as the Netherlands – Ella’s home country. Viëtor’s music is slowly finding its way back into the canon and the BFO looks forward to giving the UK premiere of work in this performance. Having been in Schumann’s world we then go beyond and the evening ends with Mendelssohn’s sparkling Italian Symphony.
This is a Bath Festival Orchestra promotion.
