The London Piano Festival’s Artistic Directors showcase their special collaboration in a thrillingly colourful programme featuring solo/duo masterpieces from the French and Spanish repertoire. Katya Apekisheva takes us into the pulsating rhythms of Ginastera’s Argentinan Dances via the melancholic longing of Granados whilst Charles Owen explores the nightmarish world of Ravel in Gaspard de la Nuit. The two pianists join forces for Debussy’s visionary Nocturnes (as reimagined by Ravel) and conclude with the joyful, ever-popular Scaramouche by Milhaud.
‘Owen & Apekisheva are a world-class piano duo…and ferociously gifted soloists. In Rachmaninov’s Second Suite their Steinways sang to each other, melodies lifted and rhythms sharpened by the finest chamber acoustic in London.’ The Spectator
