Marsm’s mission is to amplify the vibrant musical cultures of the Arabic-speaking world. Its enriching programme of live concerts, cultural events, tours, screenings, comedy nights and discussions provides a unique platform for artists from South-West Asia and North Africa (SWANA) and their diasporas. Marsm challenges the mainstream representation of artists from the region through a varied programme, ranging from Lebanese and Palestinian jazz through to North African folklore, classical Syrian Sufi, contemporary Egyptian rock and experimental electronic firebrands.
Marsm has built an extensive network of artists, venues, festival and cultural organisations across the UK, Europe, North America and the SWANA region, which has allowed the small London-based company to have a big impact across the international Arab music world.
‘Marsm is delighted to consolidate a long and fruitful relationship with Kings Place by becoming an Artistic Associate. We look forward to playing a key role in festivals and curations at the venue, to offering platforms to emerging artists and to developing new audiences.’ Khaled Ziada, Director, Marsm
‘We are so pleased to welcome Marsm as a new Artistic Associate at Kings Place. Through their visionary programming and searing commitment to promoting West Asian and North African musical cultures, they have introduced us to an array of fascinating artists. Now we’re excited to collaborate more closely, not only on a brilliant future programme, but also to become a venue for their talent development initiatives.’ Helen Wallace, Executive and Artistic Director, Kings Place
